Thanks for giving the synopsis for those who don't have their subscription 🙂

Yeah, exercise isn't always beneficial! I remember being brushed off by my doctor at a follow-up to a random vacuuming injury that had ended up with me in ER. Anyways, she says "well, you know, walking won't hurt you, right??!!" when to me it clearly made my issue worse.

Thankfully that was about 15 years ago, and things happened in her own life and she now focuses on CPTSD and Chronic Pain.... she's now not so quick to brush off patients experiences 🥰

I get New Scientist PDFs for free via my local library! 😇

It’s a really tricky one isn’t it. For my condition, axial spondyloarthritis, exercise does generally help, as long as it’s the right kind of exercise, I don’t do too much, or pick the wrong day (sometimes my body just gets angry at my attempt to get fitter for no apparent reason!). But some conditions, some days, some situations, the answer is to rest. I don’t have long COVID so I have no experience of that particular condition, but thought it was an interesting study 😊

Ohhh! I wonder if my local library here has a subscription to it. I'll have to check it out!
